  1. Wow, awesome!!! Tom will be so touched by this. I am with him in Tulsa as he recovers from surgery. He is a trooper for sure. He didnt even want to get treated because he didnt want to miss that game!!! "yeah, my cancer treatment is just going to have to wait, my team has a game." This guy, I can hardly believe him.

He is doing well after his treatment, and begins more treatment next week. Thank you all so much,

    Sam

As I made the familiar drive up Highway 93 I reflected on my week. Collin and I returned yesterday from a field trip in Puget Sound and were now winding through the Mission Valley heading towards a bake sale. I almost intuitively turned towards my brother’s house but remembered why I was heading north. I walked into Great Harvest Foods in Ronan and was flabbergasted. There were two six-foot tables pushed together so covered you could not see they were white, and brimming with piles of homemade goodness. Bringing my brother’s favorite pumpkin chocolate chip cookies from the Good Food Store I saw Ashley’s face light up. “Those are my favorite too!” she said. We divided up the bags making sure to send a few home for her and Nic. A homemade sign reminded me of the purpose and brought me to tears. There were several pictures of my brother coaching, a couple with his kids and a little blurb about his battle with cancer. To say it was surreal is an understatement. So there we sat with Bobbi, who organized this with Ashley and numerous other kind souls no doubt, while strangers and friends read the sign and donated generously. I was overwhelmed. I was bewildered at the amount of baked goods, and was told “this is nothing, you should have seen it when we first got here.” (Having arrived at 1:30, Bobbi had been there since 9:30) And I am filled with gratitude for the people who tirelessly planned, organized, and contributed to the heaping mounds of baked yumminess…all for Tom. Thank you.

  16. Hey Tom,
Just to let you know while your away, the 14u team won the trophy.... Yes, for the first time in my life, I have to admit, you and Sam are right. The win is not always worth the trophy, especially if you don't even play in the game. I agree more with your philosophy now, "The game is only worth playing if you go up against the toughest of tough and come out a stronger player. In the end the prize is far more better then a trophy".
You have a tough game ahead but we are ALL here cheering you on. Just remember we are softball players and not cheerleaders:)
Let us know if we can do anything for you.

  19. Hello Tom,
    This is Darwin here.
In the past few days I have had a couple of great opportunities to get together with old school mates. I had dinner in Missoula with Sharon Meisner and her family. It was great to catch up and hear what everyone has been up to. I had dinner with Eric Frame last night in Denver. It had been 22 years since we had talked or seen one another. Eric told me you were having some health issues.
I know you and I have not seen each other or talked since high school, but my thoughts are prayers are with you Tom. I have a lot of fun memories of you from our good old high school days.
Stay positive Tom! Be optimistic and never give up hope. You have alot of people out here cheering you on my friend.
    Take care and God bless.

  77. Hi everyone, I apologize there has not been any recent updates.. technical/summer difficulties.. So Tom finished the DMSO treatment Thursday July 7th. He needed to wait at least 5 days prior to the PET scan which determines the progress of the treatments.. Flight availibility had Tom and our mom fly out of Spokane this Sunday for a fiasco of a trip with hail damaged planes, and cancelled flights. They arrived in Oklahoma just in time to prepare for the scan. The scan was done Monday and they are currently driving home. Now it is a waiting game for the doctor to get to Tom's scan, read it, and let us know the good news.. phew, can't wait! Keep your fingers crossed, spirits high, and prayers a comin'! Thanks for all you do, you giant warm supportive communitly of Tom's! You ROCK!

(Tom is currently on about 15 different cancer fighting treatments!) So again, I apologize for the lack of updates. Thank-you for all of your continued support and way to go Collin! We are all so very proud of you!

  81. Jenn - I am not sure if you will get this, but I am unsure of how to reach you all otherwise. I am Nanette (Heath's sister) and I have been in contact with my mother about Tom. Our pastor was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer about 5 or 6 years ago. He was given only a few months to live. He took radiation for a bit, but began an all natural, organic, and mostly raw food vegan diet. And, I can't discount the power of prayer. He had many different materials that explained everything. Today he is still the pastor of this very large church and preaching every Sunday. The doctors are incredulous. It appears you already have many of the items you would need for a change in lifestyle and diet this drastic. I would urge you to contact our pastor to get more information. His name is Farris Whitehead and they live in Cleburne, Texas. The number to the church is 817-558-2121. His son-in-law is the associate pastor and his name is Cody Hughes. He helped Pastor Farris through everything and also has significant information. Please don't hesitate to call me if you need anything. My number is 575-687-3996 and my email is yanez375@gmail.com. I so hope and pray this gets to you. My mother also has some info I sent to here that you might find helpful. Please let Tom know he is in our daily prayers.
