Morning Coffee... April 14

The Tennessee Titan's Kenny Britt is apparently auditioning for a role in the next Fast and the Furious movie. While I'd say that this is more innocent than a "high speed chase," I'd say it's a really stupid judgment choice. HERE IS THE FULL STORY.

MSU endzone stadium project on schedule - Just in time to see the Grizzlies upend the Bobcats in football.

BTW... I have to rant here. Just a mere 100 yards from the stadium there's like the world's largest collection of Dinosaur bones in the Museum of the Rockies. Using my marketing mind, I can't believe that Montana State University has ignored the possibility of using that for some atmosphere. Giant T-Rex skeleton near the endzone? Forget Bobcats, change your name to the Dinos.

Colt Anderson: From Griz to Eagle

Griz football does produce a lot of NFL players. Check out this story on Colt Anderson from The Missoulian, who has made a splash in Philadelphia this and looks to be on the team for at least a couple of more seasons. Chances are, he'll be making lots of plays on Sunday for years to come.

His fans in Montana probably figure Colt Anderson cemented a spot on the Philadelphia Eagles roster for years to come.

Why not? In eight regular-season games with the Eagles, Anderson earned two game balls and was voted a special teams captain for the playoffs.

Despite playing just half the season, the former Butte High Bulldog and Montana Grizzly tied for third with 12 special teams tackles.

He drew much praise from teammates, coaches and fans.

The All-American at the University of Montana is under contract with Philadelphia for two more seasons.

Hopefully the NFL's CBA gets all worked out so we can see him play next season.

Cutler is my favorite player

That dastardly Jay Cutler is up to no good again. After they found out that he had a sprained MCL, he was spotted in a Chicago restaurant with a slightly noticeable limp.

What a pansy. Man up! Who the heck goes to a restaurant with a limp?

Sure Cutler has proven that he's more of a headache than a quarterback. Ask Broncos fans. But Michael Vick has done much worse and we love that guy.

Sure some guys have played on sprained, torn and riddled MCLs before and allegedly Drew Brees played on one all season. Whoop de doo. Do you guys want a ribbon or something? Injuries are different from person to person, and if Brees' injury was so bad, why are we hearing it just now? Sounds like a load of crap to me.

Cutler was knocked out of the game. Plain and simple folks. Whats really telling is how players on Twitter and nearly every single football fan in America has switched from "what a wimp" to "I'm not questioning his injury, I'm questioning his attitude," argument because he had an actual legitimate problem.

Even after everyone had been proven wrong, they still wanted to pile on. Granted, it wasn't like his leg fell off, but if that's the way football is going to be played - you can count me out as one of the fans.

What was most telling was how his team came to his side to support him after this. I would venture to guess that they assumed he couldn't plant his foot or move effectively against a good Packers defense. Keep in mind the Bears' offensive line was about as effective as a stripe of toilet paper. While Brees can tout his toughness about playing with a knee injury, he was playing behind a line that won the Super Bowl last year.

Culter on the other hand, was smashed to pieces all season.

Yet our fat, uneducated and completely nonathletic masses of football fans wanted to see more. They want to see every player sell out on every single play and make the ultimate sacrifice.

I'm sorry to say folks, but Jay Cutler has already done that. He's in the National Football League. That takes a lot of selling out with your body every single day and making sacrifices just to get there.

How many people have you hear "Oh I was an ankle twist away from playing in college" or "my knee gave way" from athletic blow hards?

Come on you ninnies, I thought you were supposed to play through those injuries.

We spent all season freakin' out over the safety of players in terms of head injuries. Why should they be just as protective of their other limbs?

And I'm sorry if this isn't the sixties, but even in that Stone Age, players were knocked out because of injuries. I'm going to also venture to guess that a Johnny Unitas with a bum leg still didn't have to contend with the type of players that Cutler had to.

If your problem wasn't with the injury, but was rather with his attitude afterwards (sullen on the sideline)... are you kidding me? The dude was just taken out of the biggest game of his life with an injury. I'm going to venture to guess he was just as pissed as everyone else that he was out of the game.

Now please, just stop. Especially you hockey trolls. I don't care that Scott Bleydelajamiererule played without two knee caps and a face. Ten people watch hockey and they all live in Canada.

Homeless man gets jobs offers from NFL Films, Cleveland Cavaliers

This man has a crazy good radio voice, and after drugs and alcohol had him living in a tent near the road, the Columbia Dispatch did a story on the "Man with the golden voice" and now he's gotten job offers from NFL Films and the Cleveland Cavs.

Ted Williams, a former radio announcer, was living in a tent near a highway, his life ruined by drugs and alcohol, until the Columbus Dispatch posted a video of him begging for money, thus showcasing the man with the golden voice.

The video, which highlighted his majestically silky voice, went viral on the Internet. Williams, 56, has since been flooded with job offers, including one from NFL Films and another from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who offered him a two-year contract and volunteered to pay for his living expenses.

"I don't know which one to choose, which one is the right one," he said on "Today," regarding the job prospects.

Williams flew Wednesday to New York to see his 90-year-old mother, Julia, whom he said supported him through his struggles with addiction.

"She has always been my best friend," he told the Associated Press on Wednesday, crying. "When I was a kid, she would take me down to Radio City Music Hall and on the subway. I'm just glad that she is still around. I prayed that she would live long enough that I could make her proud and see could her son do something other than stand along the side of the road with a sign asking for money."

Wow. What an uplifting story. Best of luck to him! Only in America.

It could be worse than signing Donovan McNabb

The Washington Redskins thoroughly screwed themselves after extending Donovan McNabb's contract until 2039 for roughly a gazillion dollars. But I guess Dan Snyder figured that an aging quarterback with diminishing physical skills and questionable choices at times on the football field was the perfect fit, especially after he looked like garbage for most of this season. (Is Jason Campbell still available on speed dial?)

I haven't seen a signing that bad since...

1. "John, we need you to sign the declaration against the King of England but we have a buttload of people that need to sign it, so don't take up too much room... oh wait, no John... oh, oh, dammit."

2. "Of course, Mr. Hitler, we'll let you take over this country as long as you don't take over any other land in Europe. We don't want any global war or anything like that. I mean what are the chances of having TWO world wars in a half century? No chance."

3. "So what you're saying is that if I sign here, I'll have money for the rest of my life, everything I ever wanted and a hot wife and all I have to give up is my soul, which will burn in hell for the rest of eternity? I'm so in. By the way, what are those red pointy things on your forehead?"

4. "We're proud to announce Ryan Leaf will be playing quarterback for us..."

5. "So Chuck, you took a look at that ol' Service Module on Apollo 13 right? Good to go? Okay, I'll sign off on that."

6. "A book about how you would have committed the murders if you did it? That sounds great Mr. Simpson. This will be a New York Times best seller!"

7. "Trust me, Jay Leno is not coming back, the Tonight Show is all yours. Forever. Welcome to Prime-time!!"

8. "Stephen Maybury, you just signed on to a championship team."

9. "Adam Morrison, we know you'll be the greatest Bobcat in team history."

Drew? Drew? Are you alive?

Just saw this photo on the Sports Illustrated photo vault twitter. Apparently former Washington State quarterback Drew Bledsoe has seen better days.

Dolphins extend contract with former Grizzly

The Miami Dolphins just extended the contract of former University of Montana kicker Dan Carpenter. The new three-year deal will be worth $6 million.

It comes on the heels of Carpenter's first Pro Bowl selection in just his second year in the league. The 24-year-old made 25-of-28 field goals and all but one of his 38 extra point attempts in 2009.

Carpenter has been Miami's full-time kicker the past two seasons.

Canadian Football players are up to no good

Those dastardly Canadians are up to no good. The steroid problem has gotten so bad up there, they've had to suspend an entire football team.

The University of Waterloo Warriors football team will miss the entire 2010-2011 season over steroid violations.

As many as nine potential doping violations were discovered during a mass test of 62 football players from the University of Waterloo, resulting in suspension of the team’s activities for the upcoming season.

In addition, two players from the team received suspensions and a former player faces charges in a police probe into steroid trafficking.

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, Canadian Interuniversity Sport and the University of Waterloo held a news conference Monday to announce the findings of a sweeping probe of players in the university’s football program on March 31. More than 80 urine and blood samples were taken, resulting in nine infractions. The test was instituted by the school.

As for the NFL... move along.... nothing to see here. Go make fun of baseball...

Drew Bledsoe and Troy Aikman are here to save the earth

The two former pro-bowl quarterbacks have a plan to solve this whole mess in the Gulf of Mexico. Lets hope the oil spill doesn't bring a blindside linebacker up to blitz.

Troy Aikman and Drew Bledsoe, both former Pro Bowl quarterbacks, are part-owners of a new technology that they claim can help clean up the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Their company, Ecosphere, has had meetings with BP. Bledsoe talked about the technology at a recent press conference. From FS Southwest:

According to Bledsoe, Ecosphere would set its filtration systems on barges in the gulf and on beaches to clean the water.

"This is not technology sitting on the shelf waiting for a disaster," Bledsoe said. "This is technology out in the field satisfying contracts for well over a year, so it's proven. ... When you watch it, it is magic seeing dirty, nasty water go in one end and then crystal, clean water out the other end."

So wait, they have a Brita filter?
