Friday night football games to check out

Hooray! Even though it's raining, it is Friday and that means football. With help from the wonderful Daily Interlake, lets take a look at the games this weekend. All games are at 7 p.m.

Polson@Anaconda
The Pirates have obviously looked good being undefeated so far with wins over the defending state champions on the road and two gritty home wins. This team seems like the most well-rounded in the conference with a dangerous rushing and passing attack. The underrated part about this team has been the defense too as it's pretty stubborn when giving up points. Anaconda is coming off of a 33-0 victory over Whitefish but it was their first win of the season. I'd say that quarterback Vince DiGiallonardo and wide receiver Kyle Bagnell do their thing and beat the Copperheads but I've got this nagging letdown feeling. However, if there's one thing that the Pirates have shown, its that they can overcome adversity and they don't have to be playing their best football to win games (example: Vince doesn't have a great passing game, still excels in the running game).

Ronan vs. Corvallis
Depending on who is back for the Chiefs on offense, this game could go several different ways. Watching the Ronan football team you can tell (a) they play a very physical brand of football, (b) they have a lot of talented kids on the roster and this team is going to be pretty darn good for years to come and (c) they're missing parts. They need their big guns to get back, because combine that defense with a speedy offense and the occasional pass from Robbie Gauthier to one of their backs split out and you have a very dangerous team.

Charlo@Arlee
This is a huge football game on so many levels. First, it's the two eight-man teams in Lake County. Charlo has been looking pretty impressive with blowouts their first two games but haven't had a hard test. Arlee is 1-1 after falling to the Class C defending state champion Drummond last week. Charlo is speedy, Arlee is big and scary (I've been to practice, I'm afraid to stand next to those guys), something has got to give.

Mission@Deer Lodge
Another road game for the Bulldogs who are looking much feistier this year. That offense is good and that team lays down some big hits. Head coach Peter Hamilton said it best though, they're an emotional team and sometimes they come out flat. Hopefully the Bulldogs will be on a good wave in Deer Lodge (They should, they have quite a few GOOD running backs.)
