Whitefish vs. Polson soccer update

Whitefish Boys 2, Polson 1
Polson took the 1-0 lead with a goal by James Larson in the 24th minute of the game, but Whitefish scored the next two for a 2-1 conference victory on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs scored both their goals before halftime including a penalty kick with about 10 seconds to play. No goals were scored in the second half. They improved to 3-0 in league play and 5-2 overall with the victory. Polson is now 0-1-0 in conference and 1-1-1 overall.

The Pirates played a much more physical brand of soccer, collecting 16 fouls to Whitefish's 4.

WHITEFISH GIRLS 6, POLSON 0
Whitefish scored five goals in the first half and upended Polson 6-0 Tuesday in Northern Class A play.

Senior Natalie Gayner scored three of those goals, all following corner kicks booted by sophomore Kayla Simmes. Sophomore Caroline Carbo added two goals and an assist. Junior Megan Danzcyk had a goal and an assist. Polson's Monica Cleveland had 15 saves in the matchup.

"We possessed the ball well and were able to put some quick goals up early," said Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens. Whitefish out-shot Polson 24-5 during the game.
