Video screens coming to Montana high schools

Ronan-a-tron?

Pirate-vision?

Video boards could be popping up around state high schools as a unique partnership is coming together between Virtu Consulting and school districts. While they would be for AA schools, how much would it take for other A and B schools to get a screen on their football field or in the gym?

MISSOULA - Big video screens could be popping up on Montana high school scoreboards as early as this fall. That is, if schools choose to sign a 15-year contract with a consulting company.

A representative of Virtu Consulting, Jordan Lister, presented a proposal to Missoula County Public Schools' (MCPS) board of trustees Wednesday that would put a new scoreboard with a 16-by-24 foot video screen at Missoula County Stadium. The company also wants to add 9-by-12 foot video screens to the scoreboards inside Big Sky, Hellgate and Sentinel high school gyms.

Lister told trustees the contract includes cameras, laptops and production software that students would learn to operate so that during sporting events, the screens would show live game footage and pro-produced student videos.

Ronan already projects video for their pre-game introductions which gave me flashbacks to when I went to Seattle SuperSonics games because they were so well produced, so I don't think having somebody actually put together videos is too far-fetched. While there is no official word on whether the company would even pursue A or B schools, you would have to think there would be some money there in terms of sponsorships.
