Maidens lose in a close one

RONAN - The Maidens had chances in the end, but couldn't quite get the bucket to get past Whitefish in the opening round of the Northwestern A Divisionals on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs came away with the 23-22 victory.

Ronan built a 13-10 lead at halftime but was outscored 9-2 in the third quarter before mounting a comeback in the fourth. The Maidens put up several shots in the end after Whitefish missed free throws, but couldn't convert for the lead.

Alice VanGunten led the team with 7 points.

They'll play in a loser-out game on Saturday at 10:45 p.m.
