Warriors win district crown

RONAN - Two towns. One gym. It was like a scene from "Mad Max: Thunderdome" as the Charlo Vikings and the Arlee Warriors squared off for the 14-C District title on Saturday night. The Warriors won their tenth straight, downing the Vikings 59-51 in a close and hard-fought game.

Arlee led every quarter, but Charlo was in striking distance the entire time. The Warriors outscored the Vikings in the first and second quarters for a 29-23 halftime lead. In the third, it was the Vikings than bested Arlee, outscoring them 11-9 in the period.

Then the Warriors was able to get clutch performances from their senior leaders. Arlee senior Jesse Pfau got seven of his 12 points in the fourth quarter, and the team as a whole was very balanced as four players finished in double digits. Arlee scored 21 points in the fourth to secure the victory, with their final nine points coming from free throws.
