Legion State Game 9: Great Falls 29, Fort MacLeod 2

Great Falls collected 22 hits in a 29-2 drubbing of Fort MacLeod to stay alive in the Class A State Legion Baseball Tournament on Saturday. Lead-off hitter Anthony Bonilla went 5-for-6 with a triple and drove in three runs.

But obviously he wasn't the only one that was productive at the plate. Scott Held, Justin Pfennigs, Sam Wingerter and Joshua Kakalecik all drove in four runs. Dalton Cook plated five runs for the Electrics in the game.

Fort MacLeod took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Great Falls scored four in the bottom of the frame for the 4-1 advantage and they just built on it from there. They scored six in the fourth, and then exploded for a 10-run inning in the fifth with eight hits, keyed by Sam Wingerter's three-run homer.

Fort MacLeod committed six errors and went through four pitchers. Hayden Shackel drove in a run off a single for the Royals. The loss knocks the Royals out of the state tournament.
