Golf: Polson Girls dominate Columbia Falls Invitational

Columbia Falls senior Park Johnson took first place in his home tournament Tuesday at Meadow Lakes Golf Course.

Johnson shot an 85 on the par 72 to narrowly beat Hayden Congdon of Polson, who posted an 87 for second place at the Columbia Falls Invitational.

"The shootout between Johnson and Congdon was really fun," Columbia Falls coach Gene Marcille said. "Both of them are good golfers, and they were just neck-and-neck the entire round of golf until the end when Parker pulled ahead."

Libby won as a team with a total score of 385 compared to Polson's 401 and Columbia Fall's 420.

Louis Cielack posted a third-place 92 while teammate Quinn Sullivan shot a 94 and Morgan Wilkens totaled a 98.

On the girls' side, Polson dominated the invitational with a team total of 385 while claiming the top five finishes of the day.

Nicole Clairmont took first place after shooting a 92. Her teammates took the remaining top five positions. Makaliah Wilson shot a 96, Sequoiah Bagrow shot a 98, Anna DiGiallonardo had a 99 and Jaylin Kenney posted a 104.

"Polson girls are tough," Marcille said. "I think they have a real legitimate shot to not only make a good run at conference but I think they can even contend at state."

Columbia Falls took second place on the girls' side with a team total of 520. The best finisher for the Wildkats was Morgan Love who came in sixth with a 120.
